Comments:
PikD desIV gene selected as a representative of the desI-desV gene set was more highly expressed than the desVI gene chosen amongthe oppositely directed des gene set (desVIII-desR). Two apparent operons of the des gene cluster that are transcribed in the convergent direction are separately controlled by a PikD regulator. Both parts of the des cluster (desI-desV and desVIII-desR) were positively affected by the overexpression of pikD.
