The transcription of ramR in S. lividans was analyzed during morphological development by nuclease S1 protection assays. Analysis of the DNA sequence for possible promoter consensus sequences revealed the sequence GCACAT around -10, while an apparent -35 sequence is missing. Therefore, PramR does not fall into the class of sigma70-like promoters.
