Transcription factor: PikD

GenBank ID 3800841
Factor type ND
Pfam PF00196 (Bacterial regulatory proteins, luxR family )
Consensus seq. ND
Comment PikD is a pathway-specific positive regulator of the entire pikromycin (Pik) biosynthetic pathway. It enhances heterologously produced tlactone (TL) and desosaminyl tylactone (DesTL). Park SR, et al (2008) suggested that PikD enhance epothilone production 2-fold, although these increased yields of epothilones in S. venezuelae were still significantly low compared ro those of other heterologous hosts, S. coelicolor and M. xanthus.
